ReplyDeleteI just wanted to comment on your fabulous looking science activities... I assume you're in Bigger? We're in Beyond and I'm so delighted to have found your blog before we start our Bigger journey. Do you substitute the Burgess book for OSS or do you use them both? Also, I noticed the Scott Foresman link in your sidebar... Do you sub that for R&S? Just curious as I begin to thing about next year...

Yes, we are in Bigger.
ReplyDeleteWe are NOT using the OSS books, the Colonial Science one and the Thomas Edison book.
We are only using John Audubon and the Pioneer Sampler.
I did find that with the John Audubon, Carrie does refer to the OSS Backyard one. We were fine without it. I checked it out from the library to see what she referred to and it was mainly for reference. You may want to look at a copy.
Will be starting 3 weeks of Burgess Animal soon!
I just discovered the Scott Foresman . I still use R&S for grammar. I mainly wanted some gentle guided writing. I did the first lesson with my son (2nd gr) and he didn't complain. i don't remember how many lessons there are but we would either do once a week or every other week.

Correction : OSS Woods not Backyard and it will be 5 weeks Animal Burgess and a few more at end of curricula.
